| It's been stated, "Dave Tak & The Finnbillys?....Wow!....The music kicks like country, jumps like bluegrass and has a rock-n-roll edge that lays on a bed of blues. Nice..." Though, hard to put your finger on, it's flavored with 60's and 70's Rock-n- Roll guitar styles, spattered with Funky Folk mandolin riffs and tight Country harmonies. It's stories of life growing up "The Finnish Way" surrounded by music and the love of family. The songs are written by Dave Takanen, a first generation grandson of Finnish immigrants who (with fellow countrymen) came to Minnesota's "Iron Range" and "The U.P." of Michigan in the early 1900's to escape induction into the Russian army and the low wages and unemployment of their native Finland. | HEY FOLKS! YES, I KNOW IT HAS BEEN A LONG, LONG TIME. THINGS IN THE STUDIO HAVE GONE AS PLANNED....THEN, NOT AS PLANNED......AND ANYWAY, HOUSTON.....WE HAVE A PROBLEM. I KNOW I PROMISED THE NEW CD WOULD BE RELEASED AT THE LAND OF LOON FESTIVAL IN JUNE, BUT...........AFTER RECOVERING FROM RIGHT ROTATOR CUFF SURGERY, BACK IN THE STUDIO I WENT AND EVERYTHING WAS GOING GREAT WITH SOME SPECIAL FOLKS CONTRIBUTING TO THE CD. UNFORTUNATELY, LAST SUNDAY, THE HARD DRIVE IN THE RECORDING UNIT MALFUNCTIONED AND VALUABLE RECORDING TRACKS WERE LOST, NEVER TO BE FOUND AGAIN. FOLKS, THIS IS VERY DEVASTATING FOR A MUSICIAN NEEDLESS TO SAY. THE TIMING COULDN'T BE WORSE AND BECAUSE OF THIS MISHAP, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM AT THIS YEARS LAND OF LOON FESTIVAL. I AM TRULY SORRY AND APOLOGIZE TO ALL OUR FANS. BUT OUR TIME IS NEEDED IN THE STUDIO TO RE-RECORD THE LOST TRACKS. THE RELEASE DATE HAS TO BE PUSHED TO LATE SUMMER, EARLY FALL BUT I WILL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED. HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER. DAVE TAK |
